For those of you that attended last year’s luncheon, you’ll recall the very successful auction of a 1 Can Para signed print of the Rhine Crossing.
This year, MGen Walt Holmes has donated his Gauthier sculpture that was only presented to regimental commanders and RSMs of the Airborne Regiment. Col Gauthier was the sculptor of Into Action, the paratrooper statue in Petawawa.
The Gauthier is a bronze bas relief of a winter full equipment jump. A paratrooper in the foreground is getting his parachute under control while another one is walking toward the RV. In the background are paratroopers in flight with a C130 trailing away. Frame measures 28 inches by 21 inches.
It is our plan to auction this at the Airborne Luncheon, as we approach D+75, to support the QOR pilgrimage to Normandy in June.
Hope to see you on April 12th!
