The funeral service for MGen Pitts was held on Friday the 19th of October in Victoria. Of the nine Honorary Pallbearers two were former Regimental Commanders of the Canadian Airborne Regiment and two former Commanding Officers of 2 Commando. There were six eulogies offered, one from family and the rest from individuals who had known/served with Herb during his long and exceptional life. From all accounts it was a wonderful service to honour a man who had given so much to so many during his lifetime of service.
The Canadian Airborne Brotherhood will miss Herb’s participation in, contributions to and advocacy for all things Airborne and we offer condolences to his family; his wife Marianne, daughter Susan, and sons Gerry and David.
May Herb rest in peace and may he enjoy eternal fair winds and soft landings.
